Old Blog 1/10/17: Blabbering On

Writer's picture: Robert GammonRobert Gammon

I have been a bit reclusive the last few days. It’s not a surprise all things considered. It hasn’t been a great couple of days but today I had a realisation, one that I should have had years ago and that is: my mum does half go on.

I am currently sitting downstairs in the living room in an attempt to try and socialise, something that I do not normally need to try to do. I don’t think I have manged to write more than two lines of text without my mum barking on. I am a fan on Chas n’ Dave, the London based rock and roll duo, and I am sure that their song Rabbit is probably due to an unfortunate run in that they had with my mum in the 70s.

All jokes aside, she has a heart of gold and is often trying to cheer me up as normally I am as chatty as her. Our family don’t do silence. But I have made strides to be better. I went shopping, cooked a really delicious roast and baked a lemon drizzle cake. All of which have been successful. Sainsbury’s was a doddle; the roast was superb with brilliant potatoes and my cake looks decent and I am just letting it settle.

Hopefully the next few days go like this one and we all slowly edge towards understanding and coping better.

I will leave you with a pic of my roast before the gravy and bread sauce.
